Part 8: Can Tradition and Custom Take You Away From The Gospel? (Colossians 2: 8)

Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. Our gracious Father God is who we give thanks. He also blessed the world with His son our Savior Christ Jesus and through Christ God sent us the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

Brethren many come these days as Preachers and teachers trying to take the people away from the Bible.

"There was once a man who needed a road map to cross the land and country as he had not gone that way before. He kept the map in a bag with his Bible. However he used not the Bible nor the map as he tried to find his way. He became lost and ended up in a ditch with the goats."

In the name of God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth.

Brethren the Gospel and Christ bring new life and joy in the hearts and minds of the believers. But his new life and joy comes with responsibility. However it is not impossible to stay with God. After all God will never leave us we have to leave God. Try this with your family and friends and see how lonely you will become. But as the flesh leave the Savior will always be with us.

Colossians 2:8: "Beware lest any man spoil you with philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

Beloved Brethren we pray that these messages will be a blessing to those that read and heed what is written here. Not losing sight of our topic we will digress to another related point that is so vividly noted in Colossians 2: 8.

Many contemporary Preachers and teachers come to replace the Gospel with a new found faith based on man and his various ungodly philosophies. Thus they write fictional books about the Bible attacking prayer and the essence and authority of the sacred writers. They also make ungodly movies and hold various stage productions dramatizing the Bible in wicked distorted scenes.

They also come singing and dancing claiming to be Praise Teams but dancing and rapping for Satan and not God. Thus as the Judaizers that Paul talks about in Colossians 2: 8 have passed we have new-age Preachers that come establishing new customs and traditions that contradict what God has instructed us to do in the Bible.

Now back to Colossians 2: 8. Paul reveals that Judaistaic philosophers claimed to have something better to offer the Brethren than the Gospel. They would think that something was lost if they did not accept these new ideas of philosophy in their religious life.

Pardon us while we digress once more. The (many) contemporary Preachers today teach that some Books of the Bible are lost. (For the record Almighty God has not left out anything in the Bible KJV that will conflict with our salvation). Also one has to know where Paul is speaking and when God is speaking through Paul. Therefore if you don't acknowledge this approach to Christianity you miss out on what God would have you to know. But all of this is just a ruse and guise to establish the Preacher as the sole authority and not God.

Meanwhile Paul warns the Brethren (The FreedomJournal also warns you) of these false teachers. To spoil means to take from man that which is a valuable possession. The simple faith of the Gospel is the most valuable thing one can possess.

Meanwhile they used various instruments to carry-out their evil work. The ides they offered were empty and vain. They were traditions handed down by man and not Christ. These practices still continue however are the Christmas tree and decorations and evil tradition?

Just because evil men have corrupted many things in the church is the Christmas season then an ungodly tradition? If your heart and mind is on Christ daily can you separate the evil from the good during the Christmas season? (Also see Colossians 2: 20 and 23).
