Heaven : Literally Speaking!
There are many paradoxes of life. One that I find puzzling is how those who proclaim and defend the Bible as totally or mostly LITERAL and cannot see the Bible storeis as in anyway, metaphorical miss one of the most LITERAL points of the Bible. Jesus said that the Kingdom of God is at hand. In other words, the Kingdom is NOW! LITERALLY speaking!
We are told to not look for heaven in some specific LOCALITY!
The Kingdom of heaven isn't out there somewhere: there are no streets of gold, duplexes or four-plexes, nor the plethora of physical images as outlined in songs sung every Sunday morning. What we need to do is simply to AWAKEN to the REALITY and the LITERALNESS of the Kingdom of God as to it's NOW existence. Walyer Lanyon wrote in a small book back in 1925 entitled "The Joy Bringer". "Jesus realized that he was in the Kingdom of Heaven and when he left he did not die, he merely acknowledged the Absolute, and was translated."
Everyday we have he choice to live IN the Kingdom of Heaven or follow our ego and live in a world that it dictates to us as either good (heavenly) or bad (hell).
Heaven and hell are both simply "states of consciousness". LOVE is the nature of heaven and SELF is the nature of hell. LOVE is about unity and ONENESS where SELF (ego) is about what one can get, how we can USE people, and a duality wherein everything is measured on a "what's in it for me" mentality. Worse yet, the measure is how everyone stacks up against our BELIEFS which are of course totally accurate. For another to disagree is error- which cannot or should not be tolerated.
Which world have you been creating today before reading this? Regardless of your answer just rememebr that the door to heaven remains constantly open 24/7: it is the coor of your consciousness (substitute the world spirit if that helps). :-)
